LubeMasters has pledged to buy at K10 000 every goal Be Forward Wanderers and Nyasa Big Bullets will score for the rest of the 2016 TNM Super League season.

The distributors of BP and Castrol Oil lubricants’ sales director Chimwemwe Chiwalo yesterday said they want to motivate the two teams to do well as the championship title race goes to the wire.

He said: “The company’s directors are diehards of the two teams. I am a Bullets diehard while my other two colleagues—Gift Mkandawire and Abel Chanje—are Wanderers supporters. We would like the two teams to bang as many goals as possible so that one of them can win the championship.”

But the offer only applies when the team wins. If they lose or draw, they will not get the money because losing defeats the purpose of winning the championship, according to Chiwalo.

Bullets, Mafco and Blue Eagles are tied at 45 points, but the defending champions top the table on goal difference.

Mafco are second while Blue Eagles are third while Silver Strikers have slipped to fourth position with 43 points. Kamuzu Barracks are fifth with 43 points as well while Wanderers are sixth with 41 points.

With most of the teams remaining with not more than seven games to wrap up the season, the battle for the championship seems to favour the top five teams.

But Mkandawire, who is Wanderers vice-chairperson, said the Nomads cannot be ruled out.

“If you look at the difference between the top team and Wanderers it is only four points. You can’t rule us out,” he said.

Bullets general secretary Kelvin Moyo welcomed the development.

“It’s great. It will inspire us in the last five games which are very important if we are to defend the title,” he said.

On Wanderers chances of winning the title Moyo said: “They do have an outside chance if the top teams slide. The competition is stiff this season as opposed to last season where by this time we were runaway leaders.” n
